Hello Everyone,

 

This years annual Thorncrest Village Christmas party will take place December 15th from 3pm-5pm. As in years past Santa will arrive to see the children BUT rather than have him pass out gifts as before, we’ve decided that this years party should represent the true nature of the season and be an act of giving.

 

We have contacted Haven on the Queensway and asked for direction as to what they might need over the holiday season, especially coming into the winter months. Here is a list of items they’ve requested.

 

-Gift cards-either visa/MasterCard or Walmart

-Warm clothes for children and adults alike such as gloves, hoodies, hats, jackets, boots etc...

-Toiletries 

-Diapers, wipes, newborn/infant clothing such as pj’s, diaper cream etc... These items for pre made diaper bags given to first time struggling moms.

-Children’s books for the reading centre

-Toys, but ideally in the age range of 8-14 years of age as the younger ones are often first thought of. She mentioned earphones, small electronics etc...

-Food bank donations in the form of canned or boxed goods.

 

Whether you have children or not, or normally don’t participate in the Christmas party, I would urge you to consider attending or sending in a donation for this years event. Santa will still be there and we really look forward to the joy on all the kids faces as he warmly accepts the items, takes photos with the children and sends them off with the joy of knowing they’ve made a difference this holiday season. Any donations that you do wish to bring outside of the party can be left with Rob at the office. 

 

Please RSVP no later than December 6th so that we may be prepared with enough food, drinks and good cheer for everyone.
